Kaepernick Officially Filed A Grievance Against The NFL

Earlier tonight it was announced that Colin Kaepernick had officially filed a grievance against the NFL. According to CBS, the former 49ers quarterback is alleging that he “remains unsigned as a result of collusion by owners following his protests during the national anthem”.

Kaepernick’s filing says his blacklisting is retaliating for “leadership and advocacy for equality and social justice and his bringing awareness to peculiar institutions still undermining racial equality in the United States.”

National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) has released this statement:

“[NFLPA] has a duty to assist Mr. Kaepernick as we do all players and we will support him. We first learned through media reports today that Mr. Kaepernick filed a grievance claiming collusion through our arbitration system and is represented by his own counsel. We learned that the NFL was informed of his intention to file this grievance before today. We are scheduling a call with his advisors for early this week.”
Last month, the NFLPA named Kaepernick the winner of its Community MVP award for his charitable work. He is the first players to receive that honor while listed as a free agent.
