Injury News From Around The NHL

The stars have been falling from cup contenders as the regular season comes to end. At this point in the season the hope for teams in solid grasp of playoff spots is that none of their big names get seriously hurt. On top of Evgeni Malkin and Patrick Kane, Chris Kreider, Matt Duchene, and now Johnathon Toews have gone down with injury. Duchene is likely to miss 3-4 weeks with a knee injury, and Kreider will miss at least the start of the playoffs after undergoing hand surgery. Toews was rocked by Penguins d-man, Brooks Orpik, in their matchup Sunday Night. Coach Joel Quenville said that Toews arm injury isn’t too serious, though at this point in season the info on injuries is shady.
Another, less big, name that went down is Marcel Goc.

Goc hurt his ankle in a game against the kings. Goc isn’t the greatest player, but it is a big loss to the Penguins who have been riddled with injuries this year. The penguins have the most man games lost this year with 464, almost 100 ahead of the next team (Detroit 366). Speaking of Detroit, Pavel Datsyuk is listed as day-to-day and looks to return sometime next week, and Henrik Zetterberg has said he feels better since undergoing back surgery. Zetterberg should be back sometime mid-April.
