There’s been another update on the “Rock For President” front!
During an appearance on The Ellen Show to promote his upcoming film Jumanji, former pro-wrestly Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson told Degeneres that he’s “seriously considering” running for office. His co-star Kevin Hart voiced his approval, saying that Johnson had his support “wholeheartedly – unless it comes to a financial dollar, then we’ve got to talk.”
Hart added: “I know if he puts himself in that position it’s for the better of the people. I can only applaud him and support him for doing that.”
This is our third update on this potential campaign. Back in May we reported that former Johnson appeared to be using GQ to gauge reactions to a possible political career. Then we discussed it again in July after a fan started the “Run The Rock 2020” PAC in order to drum up support for a potential White House run. Now, it appears we have a timeline!
Unfortunately – or luckily, depending on how you look at it – it does not seem like we’ll get to see a matchup of Trump VS The Rock. A few days ago, Johnson told Vanity Fair:
“Realistically, as we go into 2018, when you look at my slate as we’re developing and shooting into 2019 and 2020, the slate goes deep into 2021, so it feels like the realistic consideration would be 2024.”
Well, at least it’s good to know he’s being realistic about the whole thing.
